It's Carnival week here.
Carnival is huge. A full week of vacation time and constant celebrations, Carnival is a festive season which occurs immediately before the Lenten season. It typically involves a parade combining some elements of a circus and street party. Perhaps a little bit like Mardi Gras in New Orleans, minus the beads and bare bodies. People do often dress up during the celebrations to mark and overturning of daily life.

The kids dressed up for school this week using items from the dress up box, but I never got a photo. It was one of those days which was just running ahead of me. So I was thrilled to greet them today at school, masquerading around on the last day before the Carnival vacation week. A harlequin, the comic of the show, was the theme for Emory's class. The teachers and children put these costumes together. Pretty funny- as Emory now refuses to take it off.
